Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Status match (to Bronze)?

  • 317 posts

I don’t often fly with BA but have just taken a club Europe return and have reward flights to Dubai later this year in club world. I’m keen to book seats prior to check in without paying. The fact this is even a thing is ridiculous.

Anyway, are there any roundabout ways to get a basic status match or boost to Bronze? I don’t even need Silver, at least you get 7 days to book seats with Bronze. I have Virgin silver, is there any way to match to another airlines basic status and go from there?

I saw this article saying you could match to Royal Air Maroc Safar flyer status, a oneworld partner. It doesn’t get lounge access but at least seat selectivity I’m hoping?

If you can get One World Ruby (BA Bronze) then yes you would have free seat selection 7 days before departure on BA. You’ll need to enter that frequent flyer number in to the booking in order to get the seat selection though.

Even as Bronze we always find it very slim pickings at T-7, one of the reasons I am going for Silver before the end of the year. But if you’ve got Club Suite I’d say you’re not going to be disappointed with any of the seats. The food, maybe, but the seats are great!

Thanks, how do I get one world ruby though?

It’s not the new seat, it’s on the A380 so the weird old Ying/Yang suite.

Ah right. I tried yesterday and it says that they don’t do status matches anymore. Not even for the 49 euro fee.
