My wife and I just booked a day trip to Stockholm – 10am arrival, 10pm departure. Any must sees?

Any must sees that won’t leave me in the doghouse?

I got carried away – apologies – my first serious girlfriend was Swedish, we were an item for about 4 years. Expensive place, Stockholm. Esp alcohol.

Dagens rätt or Dagens lunch (daily special) can get you a reasonably priced meal.

Alcohol? no way, get some duty free.

On our first morning a few weeks ago, we did a return trip on a commuter
ferry (not a tourist tour ferry). Costs v little, took just over an hour, and
gives a great idea of the extent and gorgeousness of all the islands.

Oh, and if you’re in the city centre, Ikea has the cheapest lunches!

Lunch and dinner are courtesy of AMEX plat dining credits! Commuter ferry sounds like a great idea

Yum, even better! (eating out def. greatest expense)

For the ferry, you just tap in with any bank card – as you just stay on when it reaches its destination, you don’t even need another ticket, as any transport ticket lasts…and hour and a quarter, I think?

Definitely get on a ferry and spend an hour floating around the various ‘islands’, and highly recommend Vasa museum, the Swedish equivalent of the Mary Rose. If the weather is OK, lots of parks to wander, ABBA museum because, well, you’re there aren’t you, Alfred Nobel gravestone, again just because, and can combine with walk up to Haga Park. I seem to think it’s about 30 something Krona for a ticket which does indeed last an hour and a quarter for pretty much all public transport.
Pre book the train from airport into town will save a bit, presuming you’re flying in and out.

No matter how many times you tap on within 75 minutes you won’t be charged again. So you only need to have *started* the final journey within 75 minutes. The ferry staff made me get off at the end of each trip, though I had a 3-day ticket anyway.

The charge is just to enter the system, so you could in theory stay on trains all day long with just one payment (some outer parts of the network are unbarriered so you get on-board checks there).

    Amazing! Thank you all
