I noticed there simply is no notification of any replies to your created topic, your quote or a new post on the topic you posted on.
Please can you turn this notification on? Other forums have this as a standard feature… is this a forum created from new or is a plugin used within wordpress? it should be a free plugin to have a forum on wordpress
Unfortunately they are using non-standard forum software (PressBB) hence why lots of standard forum features are missing.
I also think this functionality is pretty much essential for a useable forum so it would be appreciated.

+1
People should be able to choose if they are informed or not about replies to a specific thread
This would be very welcome. The standard approach is to allow people to subscribe to threads and receive email notifications for each reply. Most forums default to subscribing you automatically to any thread you reply to, but this should be optional, and you should be able to subscribe / unsubscribe to individual threads too.
It would be good (ideally either as a Facebook style notification within site or via Email according to user preference although to be honest I’d take either) but I can appreciate there are bigger priorities so one for some time next year, maybe?
Fo now, probably many people have missed that clicking Account -> Engagements allows you to see any further activity on threads in which you have been involved.
+1 – I was wondering why I wasn’t being notified.

This will help, thanks!
There is a HUGE amount of flexibility with the forum software. We have simply chosen not to install, or have disabled, lots of it because it creates a drag on site performance. (We had to move site search into the cloud, for example, because with 700,000 comments and 11,000 articles, every single search started dragging down site speed.) I’m not sure how well the site could cope with sending a few thousand email notifications per hour, for example. Given that we don’t run on huge enterprise-scale servers we need to be careful with what we do.
@Rob rather than email notifications is there a toggle switch in the settings to allow for threads with posts you have not read to be in bold (or something else to distinguish) Vs where you’re up to date not be emboldened.
That sort of thing shouldn’t impact the site performance at all.
