So I’m making my first trip on Swiss on the super cheap fare. I had hoped as a Lufthansa FTL I might get free seat assignments but that’s not the case. Any experience on how this works? Do I get a choice at check in or will myself and my adult son both end up in middle seats at opposite ends of the plane just because they’re trying to make the customer experience as bad as possible?
Last time I flew on Swiss, I was removed from my reserved seats on boarding the aircraft. My wife, adult son and I were all moved to middle seats, well separated from each other, so that a family with young children who hadn’t booked seats could sit together. There was an empty row in front of the curtain, but we weren’t allowed to use it.
No apology, no compensation, and no more than a Swiss shrug when I complained after the flight. I’ve never flown with Swiss since, despite having had dozens of opportunities.
Based on my experience, it may make very little difference if you have a seat reservation.
