Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Terminal 3 First lounge hopping

  • 72 posts

    Hi

I’m on the 14:40 flight to Bahrain. Planning to get to Heathrow at 11:00. Flying First.

Grateful for suggestions on when and where to eat. ie should we eat breakfast or wait for lunch?

Where to get the best champagne/wine.

Where to get the best cocktails.

The BA First Dining Room seems to serve good food, but also is often dead.

Cathay’s First Lounge looks brilliant. Is the breakfast or lunch better here? What’s the champagne like? Cocktails any good?

Quantas’ lounge is business and first, what is worth visiting here for?

American Airlines First. Any particular reason to visit this one?

    Thank you.

I would check out that thread but personally I would be rocking up for breakfast and lunch. That’s what I did last time. If you have access I thought AA F lounge does a good eggs royale and plenty of Moet Champagne available. Then head over to the QF lounge to wash down with a nice coffee. Qantas lounge also does their signature Fried Squid.

BA First Dining Room dead? Surely that’s a good thing it being quiet, it’s not a party! But yes give it a try as you’re flying first. I would probably try the mini-CCR over the AA F lounge as that is very busy with a lot of AA flights. Then I’d probably go to Qantas for a good coffee. Then probably CX for some excellent lunch in the dining room.

There are reviews of all the T3 lounges in the “reviews” section.

I would start with reading those.

Thank you. The Cathay one seems the best. But, as you have helpfully mentioned, I’m looking to now what’s the best in each!

Unfortunately they are now a little out of date. The Galleries First review was done during COVID. I don’t believe there is mention of the dining room (though there was a separate article about it recently, but more.so.aboht Gold List access, rather than a lounge review).

Similar can be said for the others, hence my question…

If it’s your first time hopping and you want to try all the lounges, you should probably get to the airport around 0930, otherwise you’ll be rushing around and you won’t have time to digest the food.

Ooh not sure, I’d never spend 4.5 hours lounge hopping – more like 2.5 hours max. But each to their own!

Don’t forget the American Express Centurion Lounge, for holders of the Platinum card. I arrived 4 hours before departure and Centurion Lounge wouldn’t let me in any earlier than 3 hours before ETD.
I went to BA Galleries first for tea.

Then the Centurion Lounge, which I thought was excellent. Great food and very friendly staff.

After that the Qantas For their salt and pepper squid met een. They were fussy about letting me in, 45 minutes before closing. I insisted and had a nice time.
Finally I enjoyed a glass in the Cathay lounge, which was by far the most beautiful lounge of all.

I had a great time in all of them and still had enough appetite for the best ever chicken curry on Air Lanka: what a blast.

I did say if it’s their first time doing it.

Also it’s not 4.5 hours as you have to park and/or walk from station to the check-in desks, security, walk between lounges and you likely want to board early being in F.

If you’re not familiar with the lounges you will need extra time to find them, and explore them in full. I always allow an extra 15 minutes to use the toilet before going to the gate.

When T2 opened I decided to try all 4 Star lounges on my first flight from there, I allowed myself 5 hours for that and it was way too hectic and not relaxing at all.

If I arrive at the terminal 2.5 hours before my flight I will be using only one lounge; I would want to have more than 3 hours for it to be worthwhile going to 2 lounges.
