Just used my Virgin voucher to book leg 1 of Lon/NY trip. Waiting to book leg 2 as hoping upper class seats will become available for the date I have in mind. I noticed the taxes of 2 single flights is far greater than a return, will the agent take that into account when adding the second leg?
My experience is Yes *but* only if you explicitly ask them too. Last time my agent was about to create a new PNR and was sure it would be no different in price, but he humoured me, quoted it on one PNR and was quite surprised that I had a fair chunk less to pay once quoted as one round trip.

great thanks for the tip
My experience is no – see my post here https://www.headforpoints.com/forums/topic/rebooking-saga/
I think the difference in your case @Olly is that getting refunds after you’ve already paid more is a pain. Getting the agent to price up the return as a round trip before you pay should be relatively painless *but* the agent may need to be guided to do it.
