Hi all
I can see a lot of members are currently in Thailand and wondering if anyone can assist with a good itinerary for 2 weeksWe are thinking of flying in to bkk and we will fly out of either sin or hkg (as it’s probably easier to get flights out of win or hkg using companion voucher). 2 adults 2 kids
We did do khoa lak, krabi and Phuket last year, so want o experience something different, ideally Chang mai area, some and some lovely beaches
Any help appreciated .
Weather can be a major factor. Koh Samui is your best bet and can be paired with something on east coast of Malaysia or down further south in Indonesia. If you can fly a bit more, north Vietnam is also good.
Thanks Koh Samui looks good, I will see if we can fit that in with Khoa Sok, and Chang mai
Ko Lanta an island in Krabi is really nice. Some lovely beaches and decent choice for families as not party central like parts of Phuket.
Have you been to Khao Sok before? We have only done as a private full day trip from Khao Lak (organised by our hotel) and loved it. Scenery is absolutely stunning and swimming in the fresh water lake was gorgeous.
We have become somewhat boring as keep returning to our favourite places in Ko Lanta and Khao Lak – around a week in each place usually top and tailed with a couple of nights in Bangkok. Last year though we didn’t stop in BK and flew straight down to HKT for Khao Lak (on one ticket) which worked well.
Lastly recommend you do your research on Chiang Mai as the burning season means smog/air quality and visibility can be very bad from Feb to mid April. As we normally go in March it has put me off so far.

We wanted to go Khoa sok last year, its on my to-do list, but we couldn’t fit it in to our itinerary last year, and again we skipped Chang Mai last year due to the burning season, however we only tend to travel over easter, so I think we may just go this time for a few nights.
Hey @troubleonline … we have 5 nights in Khao Lak booked for December as the final leg of our Vietnam/Thailand trip.
We are a fairly active family and a bit of beach time works but we’ll get itchy feet so def interested to hear any recommendations for day trips from there. Khao Sok seems like a must do but not sure how much more we can pack in aside from a lake tour on a day.

@troubleonline, any hotels you can recommend at these places? We have become somewhat boring as keep returning to our favourite places in Ko Lanta and Khao Lak
@troubleonline, any hotels you can recommend at these places?I’m popping down to Koh Lanta this weekend for 7-10 days. Not been before so I’ll try and report back… Although I don’t think it has the big resort style hotels.
Ha ve been to Khao Lak a few times – I have youngish family with kids aged 9/7. ‘The Sands’ is a good location right on the beach and a great kids club (it’s that big that you can avoid the kids and has adults only pools.
-‘La Flora’ is also right on the beach and has plenty of restaurants and bars in walking distance.
– Well worth a visit to the Simillian Islands from Koh Lak (Dec-April).Other places we like are
Koh Samet (Near to Bangkok but far enough away!)
Koh Tao – Reminds me of my younger days! Great snorkelling/divingThailand is hot all the time but very hot April/MayJune 🥵
I’m hearing that Chang Mai ir unbearable at the moment due to the polution, so we may now cross that off the list
Now thinking Koh Samui, Khao Sok (possibly elephant hills if we can justify the price) and then probably head towards Krabi and hit some islands.
We loved Dusit Thani in Krabi during our last visit – 10 minutes away from the hustle bustle of Ao Nang.Hi all

Just following up after my trip South to Koh Lanta and Krabi. Drove down from Bangkok, stayed overnight in Chumphon (You can get the ferry to Koh Tao from nearby). Next day drove down to Lanta. On the way back went via Krabi (3n) and Hua Hin (1n).
Really liked Koh Lanta, was very chilled with a mix of families, backpackers and nomads. Can recommend ‘Lanta Casa Blanca’ resort. Good sized family room with Bunkbeds. Excellent breakfast and on its own little beach with enough going for drinks and food of an evening. Also managed a decent lamb curry 🙂. Krabi/Ao Nang was a lot busier, but 3 nights was enough. Did a trip to Railay Beach.
Have been thinking about 2 weeks in Easter, it is quite short in the grand scheme of things. If you wanted to go to Khao Sok, then maybe flying down to Ranong/Surat Thani/Phuket could be a good start. 2 nights and then minivan transfer over to Surat Thani (Don Sak Pier) and get the ferry to Samui. Once on Samui you can also get the boat to Koh Phangan/Koh Tao if you wanted. You’ll find good beaches/food/activities here. You fly from Samui direct to Singapore/Hong Kong. Might also be worth looking into flying direct into Samui with BA. (Think they partner with Bangkok airlines which own/run Samui airport)?
Chiang mai can be hit and miss depending on the weather, but when it’s bad it’s very bad 🫤.
Another option close to Bangkok is ‘Khao Yai National Park’ which is only 2hrs drive from Bangkok. Has plenty of wildlife/scenery etc….
I live in Bangkok, have been here for 4 years now..but feel we’re only touching the surface. It’s a big country!
