Just want to double check with those who recently visited Thailand that the original 30-days visa exemption is back in place?
I understood the 45-days visa exemption scheme was extended until 31st March 2023 which was very helpful for us earlier this year but need a bit of planning with the (only) 30-days back in place. Thank you.
Yes, 30 days.
You can extend for another 30 days at a cost of 1900 baht by visiting an immigration office, a quite simple procedure taking around 1 hour if you avoid the busy middle of the day.
it might not be relevant to you or it may have changed since my last visit but will share my experience
I crossed into Myanmar at Mae Sai for a day. The passport stamp on return to Thailand gave me a 14 day visa. I got a telling off at BKK when departing Thailand for overstaying my visa by a few days.
Looking back probably not the wisest thing to do. I had to leave my passport with the guards and collect it on my way back to Thailand
Thanks everyone. Good to know that this can be extended inside the kingdom; alternatively I might just do a visa-run and visiting somewhere around the region for a long weekend.

That’s a strange one. Assuming you’re holding Brit passport, you should get another 30 days when you stamp back into the Kingdom and you can do it 3 times a year using airport, twice a year using border crossing.

I hold an Irish passport so could explain it. This was bsck in 2015 2016
it was just after previous king had passed
Good that you did not get into trouble when stamping out at BKK on your return flight. By trouble I meant having to pay 500THB a day which I guess can be subject to how strict the immigration officers are. Normally the senior ones are quite relax based on my experience if he feels that it was a genuine mistake (in which to be fair does not sound it was your fault at all).

I’d love to go back but have that fear that there could be an issue on arrival at BKK
