A bit of a clickbait title, but there’s little to disagree with the message.
It does come as a shock for some Brits and Europeans on how the gap has grown.
Completely true for USA. Probably Duabi and similar ME states also
The ‘G’ in GFC stands for Global, not Great.
That error aside, the article largely makes sense despite committing the fundamental error of conflating wealth and income. If you own a £2.5m property with a £1.5m mortgage and have a pension fund of £2m, you have wealth of £3m but may well be a little short of cash flow to spend on nice things today.
But some things are undoubtedly in short supply as the global number of wealthy people rises more rapidly than capacity. Airport lounges are one example; hotels in Santorini are another.
The trick is to look for things that aren’t obviously list-tickable. Some Greek islands have retained their charm while the masses descend on Santorini, Mykonos and Hydra. There is more to the USA than New York, Vail and the Grand Canyon. And if you stay in hotels not managed by the big five global corporations, you will escape competition from the unthinking masses of statuseers.
