So refreshing to be in Manchester T2 today, security still make up their rules based on how they feel, but at least it’s a nicer terminal.
Escape lounge annoyed me though, said they’re full for priority pass, virtual queue only so I walked away and got lunch
Is this the Asia trip finally? Escape T2 have never NOT had the “P1ss off We’re Full” sign up

No this is a short trip to Istanbul
Good morning from Escape T3. Fast Track was pretty fast but of course I then had to wait another 20 mins for secondary screening while they confiscated full size deodorants from hapless travellers and clucked over my HRT gel and pot of tooth powder (“Is it a candle?”)
Escape lounge is rammed but they are very proactive at keeping the BA area separate. I’m slightly surprised there isn’t dissent from paying customers forced to share tables!
The walk from the new HI was about 20 mins with max hand luggage but 90% dry. The hotel itself is excellent for the price point (I paid 27k points but you can get it for less outside school holidays), new, spotless, quiet, big rooms, comfy beds. The only disappointment was the “fully stocked mini bar” which turned out to be 3 cans of pop and a Kit Kat chunky 😂
BA now with a separate area is progress, small mercies.
@Anna I thought three fizzy drinks and a Kit Kat chunky was a normal northern breakfast? Hahaha
I don’t think BAs separate area will last that long, can’t wait until they (start and) finish the new terminal 1. Hopefully T3 can be bulldozed then
Airport breakfast is a full English and a pint of lager, followed by more lager 😂
BA1387 was delayed an hour but still got to T5 in time for second breakfast in Galleries North (scrambled eggs, mushrooms, cheese, fruit, glass of pink fizz).
It’s busy but not unbearable.
The separate BA area in T3 Escape is notional rather than mandated. Many’s the time I’ve been directed there only to find the grey tracksuit bottom boys drinking each other under the table, taking facetime calls without earphones and generally being raucous.
I didn’t know there is a BA area in T3 Escape. I’ve been in a few times and it’s never been mentioned to me and I’ve never seen a sign

It’s not marked in any way. It’s the seats overlooking the glass wall that looks down on the pub below. They direct BA guests there but others do go there too. The main seating and tables area is kept for pre-bookers
They were escorting the non-BA pax to their seats this morning. This was pleasing as several of the grey tracksuit bottom boys were being somewhat vocal about having their full size deodorants confiscated at secondary screening and I didn’t want to listen to them any more after listening for 10 minutes, at secondary screening!

Lucky you were there during the morning. Closer to closing time they sometimes engage in loud flirting with tables of girly trip guests.
I’m undertaking my first ever BA longhaul flight today, starting from MAN. Unbelievably, MAN T3 security was almost deserted at 10.30am. I think there were fewer than 10 passengers. It was a breeze. However, priority check-in, stuck in the corner, was bad. There’s simply not enough room in that corner when there are wheelchairs and over-sized baggage dancing around each other. MAN-LHR was fine and comparable with MAN-CDG with AF, for example. I’m now in the B-gates lounge at LHR T5. I’m impressed. It’s quiet and relaxing, and the F&B are plenty good enough for me. I’ve never seen this many empty seats in AMS or CDG lounges. Will I be won over to BA from AF/KL, middle-east airlines and ex-EUs? That remains to be seen. But I’m looking forward to my onward flight this evening. Maybe I’ll report back.

This bugs the hell out of me and I’ve mentioned it here before. The Menzies staff are what I’d term “of mixed ability” so you are often left with 3 of them who simply don’t know how to manage 2 distinct queues.
