Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club BA tier point collection year end question

  • 4 posts

Hi everyone, I’m a bit confused about my status and wonder if anyone can help clarify for me.

I’m currently BA Silver, my TP collection year ends 06 March 2022 and Silver status expires on 28 April 2023 (it was extended previously). I assume there is no hope of the collection year being extended, is that right?

With work travel being the way it is, I will really struggle to get the 365 TPs needed to retain Silver. I have maybe one LHR-SFO in CW coming up in early Feb, so I thought about using the BA Holidays double tier points offer, but now it seems like the extra TPs wouldn’t post on time. Any bright ideas?

And as an aside, in the unlikely event I do manage the additional 365 points before my collection year ends – would my new period of Silver membership start running from April 2023 i.e. the extended date? All wisdom gratefully received!

No need to get any points in this collection year if you are extended. Just look to get the points after 08 MAR 2022 and before 08 MAR 2023.

Collection year ends cannot be changed. (As an aside they end on the 8th of the month)

Given that your silver status ends on 30th April 2023 I’m at a loss to understand why you would bend over backwards to get the TPs by March 2022.

Getting silver status in your new collection year would mean you would be silver until April 2024.

Ah okay, so there’s zero point in my trying to rack up more tier points in this collection year – got it! Thanks all.

Correct because even if you did get Silver by 8th March 2022 it would only have gotton you the status until 30th April 2023 anyway (rest of your current year plus one year)
