Would appreciate it if anyone can explain what’s happening here?
My tier point collection year ends 8th November, card valid til 31 Dec 2022.
My reduced TP level to retain silver was 450 and I needed a further 230 points to reach this. This was shown in my BA account. I am halfway through a 4 legs series of flights and the expected 120 tier for the outbound legs credited, and the same will happen when I fly home this week. I would then be 10 TP’s over the requirement of 450 TP’s. However, looking at my account this morning the tier point requirement to retain silver has now jumped to 260 (so the reduced TP requirement previously shown now reverted to usual threshold. so if this is correct then I am now a long way off silver retention when at the start of my current trip I would have exceeded the 450 TP’ to retain silver.
What is going on? Appreciate any information.
My account always showed that I needed 600 TPs to achieve Silver this year; it was mentioned on here that BA had an IT problem with showing the temporary lower thresholds. I completed my 3rd and 4th sector last week which gave me a total of 550 TPs and I was moved to Silver 3 days after sector no.4. So I suspect there’s another IT wobble going on with your account and you will actually move to Silver after your trip, which will then last until the end of 2023.
You will earn your status at reduced TP even if your account says different. I earned my new status two weeks ago at the reduced TP threshold even though the app said I was still far off
Yes – it is a ‘points needed’ display issue due to the reduced threshold being a set date (31 Dec 22) rather than an individual year end date. It is mentioned in the BA help pages – although it says 2023 year ends, it is the same principle: https://www.britishairways.com/en-gb/executive-club/tiers-and-benefits
Please note, Members with a Tier Point Collection Year end date in 2023 will see the normal Tier Point threshold in the ‘My Account’ area on ba.com and the British Airways app from the start of their Tier Point collection year.
Thanks for all replies.
To update in case anyone else has this same issue. It was an IT glitch. I was logged into the app when showing incorrect TP info. I later logged into my account via a web browser and the TP’s reported correctly. Then when I went back into the App, it also showed the correct TP info.
No idea why but at least it sorted itself.
Normal thresholds are displayed in account but the reduced tirs still apply till 31/12/22. There is a bit of text to this effect somewhere in there where it says you will be upgraded automatically regardless of what the progress indicator says.
