So if my collection end date is say 10th June, if I fly on the 10th June that’s the last date to add to that year isn’t it? The other question is does that mean they will return to lower status (if not retained) on the 10th June the next year? Or do you just get 1 day and a year? Thank you
Everyone’s collection end date is the 8th of a month. A flight which is scheduled to depart on the 8th (local time at origin) will credit to the collection year that is ending (so you may not see it credit as the TPs will be deleted by the time it posts).
If you failed to get enough TPs your status will downgrade on the last day of the next month, i.e. your collection year ends 8th Jan, you will drop status on 28(29)th Feb.
thank you, so it’s actually 8th September 24, we are flying that day and we’ll hit silver with the TP for that day. They say you maintain these TP for the rest of your year and the following one. As i won’t be credited for a few days will the silver status expire on the next year sept/oct 2025?
When you earn a status you earn it for the remainder of the collectiin year you earned it and then the following collection year plus 6 ish weeks
On the 9th of the month after your collection year ends all TPs get wiped out.
The TPs for the flights in the 8th will still credit to that year even though they post a few days into the new year.
The BA system for this copes quite well with TPs earned close to year end so I wouldn’t worry about it but it will take a few days to filter through the system.
Mine’s a more general status question, and from a lowly Blue member who’s wondering if he’s missing something. I manage to accrue enough Avios and 2-4-1’s etc to be able to always fly club/business. I’ve 5 trips booked this year, 3 club and 2 business. I usually pre book seats.
As far as I can tell the main advantages of status is in lounge access and free seat booking, depending on status as to when you can do that. Given my booking profile spending money on flights to gain tier points and status doesn’t seem worth it at all.
Am I missing something?

Thanks for the reply
I guess the sweet spot then is earning half way through and not like me who just gets the year and that day 😂
