Forums Frequent flyer programs Other frequent flyer schemes TK miles and smiles devaluation

It seems that TK has devalued their award redemptions….used to be 15k points LHR-IST in business now its 20k (promotional rate which is difficult to find) or 40k points for standard business class reward…

I have 30k miles and smiles points…any suggestions of what to do with them???

*Actually it’s now 25k points up from 15k for promotional rate

It’s still better to redeem on flights.
Remember the hard expiry as well.
On the bright side, some of the star alliance flights can be booked online now.

It is very annoying indeed, that you can’t easily browse promotional rates. You literally have to scroll day by day. But if you get one – it’s often same miles as economy.

It’s worth remembering that Bonvoy points can be converted to Miles & Smiles, at 60,000 points to 25,000 miles. If one finds promotional availability on one of the redemption sweet spots, it can be outstanding value even converting from Bonvoy.

In 2023 and 2024 I have redeemed for a flight IST-South Asia in business; it was 25,000 miles 1W in 2023 and is now 35,000. It would have been 60,000 from the UK (was 40 or 50,000), but IME it is much harder to find availability from LHR (LGW and BHX are OK, if those work for you, but no long haul aircraft LHR-IST). I’ll likely just book a Y cash ticket on PS / TK or redeem on BA, with an overnight in Istanbul.
