Forums Other Destination advice Tokyo NRT — When to arrive?

  • 232 posts

Hello, not our first time departing from NRT but it has been a while and if there is anyone who can share recent experience that’d be much appreciated.

We have luggage to check-in and a toddler on tow. Thinking of arriving ~2hr prior to departure time. Flying out of T1 in J with BR so should have fast-track (security and immigration?). Would like to check out ANA lounge and grab a bite.

Our flight is 14:00hr. We did not want to leave the hotel too early and like to have leisurely breakfast. Aiming to arrive at the airport around 12noon, assuming all goes well with the limo airport bus? Do you think this is a bit too stretched?

Most JP airports kick you out at 11am and it takes ~1hr to get to NRT (even with fast train, etc. you need to get there and with a toddler everything takes longer). 2hrs will be plenty.

@yonasl thank you. I suppose you meant most JP hotels will kick out at 11am anyway. Yes, we would need to leave way before that anyway. Probably around 930am as it can take ~2 hrs on limo bus to get to NRT.

Yes, hotels .. sorry, it is hard to use the chat from a mobile browser haha!

For NRT you best option is to take the train. There is a fast one that can be “expensive” (still cheap when you compare to LHR Express).

@yonasl thank you. Yes we took a train before to NRT but with staying at Hilton near Shinjuku we entertain the idea of getting the limo bus from the door step. It is noticeably taking longer though so we will need to decide. 🙂

p.s I am not sure but it seems that NEX runs directly between Shinjuku-NRT so we could probably get the hotel shuttle bus to the station and get on NEX.
