Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club TopCashback conversion ends 31st December

Just seen in an email from the BA shopping portal that this partnership ends on the 31st December. A little annoying as it was a decent conversion opportunity with a 5% bonus and didn’t count towards any limits for Avios you can purchase (if you also have the subscription).

Odd. I never received anything despite multiple transfers.

I can see why BA is doing it of course.

    Yep, got the same email.

I was hoping that the £600 of cashback i have likely to confirm early next year was going to top up my points quite nicely, sucks.

Whats the rate of conversion from voldeportal to ba? Is it 105 avios per £1 tcb?

Yep, it was £1 TCB = 105 avios

Why’s that then? They seem to be very keen to sell Avios for cash recently. This is another channel to flog them at rates equivalent to what they’re getting via Avios Boost.

DO you think 105 Avios per pound is more useful than err, 100 pence per pound? (yeah I know I phrased it badly).

It’s probably better for earning to go through BA portal, but I won’t touch it ever again with all their fiascos and non-payments. With TCB at least they respond to my two threats four years ago and never had an issue ever again and payouts are quick.

It’s especially useful for hotels.com and Accor bookings as you get to triple or quadruple dip.

    Whats the 4th dip?

You have a very valid point. It’s only usually a ‘top up’ for me on something I’m already going to purchase anyway. I do find there’s quite a bit on TCB which isn’t available on BA’s portal or has a much better rate.

I suppose now that existing transactions can be boosted at 0.92p per avios – there is no real difference to just withdrawing as cash and boosting instead.

As someone who has been travelling for over 18 months and a frequent user of AirBNB… this is disappointing. The 7.2% cashback on AirBNB vouchers was a useful way to generate some quick avios. I’ll have to withdraw it as cash now

    Whats the 4th dip?

    TCB
    Accor points
Qatar/FB miles (you get both points and miles with QR/FB, for hotels.com it’s rewards nights, but that is going away)
    Credit card points

There are also Eurostar points with Accor, but poor rate.

Edit: @andy_shf just reminded me that transfers from TCB to Avios can/could also be boosted.

You can earn 3 Avios per £1 on AirBnB directly with British Airways if you go via their link.

It looks like the option has gone early? I was planning to do a transfer but I can’t find the transfer option any longer..anyone?!

Mentioned a couple of weeks ago. Presumably this ensures all conversions are complete by the 31st.

Ah yes, and now confirmed by Topcashback customer services. Boo! Never mind 🙂

I believe this has gone already 🙁
