To generalise and say the BA estore claws back Avios ‘for no reason’ is a very sweeping statement. I track them carefully and have only had Avios clawed back when I’ve cancelled something. Estore has been very reliable for me.
Consider yourself lucky then. Others including myself have had very different experiences
Hotel chocolate for once, 15 months after purchase, 11 months after they were credited

Absolutely – I’ve had restaurant Avios cashback clawed back months later…
I haven’t had any avios taken back but I’ve had plenty of transactions get cancelled without paying.
I’m just curious about one thing. If you create a “fake” BA account in your household and use that only for estore, and whenever something credits, use up all the avios on a redemption (combining to Qatar or Iberia in order to have the exact amount required in the BA household) – if they do claw it back I guess the estore account would go negative, but does that have any effect on the rest of the household?
Currently BA is often better than TCB. TCB a has long lead times to get credit too and BA has 50% bonus for Black Friday week on top of advanced rebates. However they both track with the incorrect amounts and customer service is meh.
You might have to read the thread again. TCB only pays out after they get the money which can be 2 to 3 months. BA will give you avios immediately and claw it back for any reason when you aren’t noticing.
The amounts will be different as they exclude taxes.
Please stop stating that the eStore gives you Avios immediately, you’ve said it twice now, firstly claiming it’s a deliberate attempt to dupe 🤦🏼♂️.
It’s crystal clear, just like TCB, that there is a process and timescale prior to the award being credited to your account.
The eStore transaction confirmation email you are referring to clearly states, in the second paragraph (not small print):
“Your Avios will normally be with you within X days of the last day of your stay. On certain occasions, it may take longer to validate your purchase and award your Avios”.
The above wording is adapted for different types of purchases but it’s there for all purchases. For typical transactions it is between 35 – 120 days. The polar opposite of your claim.
Your comments in this post bear no resemblance to the actual BA eStore process and confirmation process and are misleading as a result.

I think what people mean, and this has happened to me on occasion, is the points WILL track and go as pending, then one day just disappear from transactions.
Some BA estore /TCB cashback excludes taxes, some doesn’t. e.g. John Lewis at BA includes taxes, Lego excludes.
BA estore seems to track well – some Avios ARE credited fairly quickly because of some speedy validation process – e.g. John Lewis again. Some take a long time – booking.com for example (still – only? – available for cashback at BA and Virgin, not TCB)
