Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

    Hey all

I flew on RAM back in May, added my BA account to the booking so I would get TP. No points, tier or avios, were credited. Claimed it on BA early August, email says it may take up to 8 weeks for points to be credited. Nothing has happened… is this normal? What would you do?

Separately I have a string of claims with BA for downgrading avios bookings, delays etc. – is it worth calling them?

    Thank you

Others will be able to assist better re TP/Avios claim but re the other issues, no, there is no point in calling. If you get to speak to anyone, the best case scenario is getting fobbed off, the worst case is pushing your case down the queue. You need to write, using the reply function (as opposed to replying to the email) in your claim acknowledgement or update.

Whatever you do, don’t bundle the claims together, you need to address each one individually. If you haven’t received a response after eight weeks, you are entitled to proceed to CEDR, but I would ideally try to press for a response first. You can theoretically go to MCOL at any stage. If they don’t respond, you could also send individual hard copy letters before claim (with a response deadline some 14 days after likely receipt) to try and elicit a response before going to CEDR/MCOL.

Just to add my two cents worth, when I had to claim for a QR codeshare flight (MH operated), did so online and after 6 weeks it was declined, but received no email explaining why, I had to constantly check the claim bit on my account on BA’s site. Then rang up and they gave me a hidden part of ba.com to go to submit the evidence (Boarding pass + e-ticket) and after a while they then added the correct Avios/TP. The process is not clear/easy unfortunately. So for the time being I would wait and keep checking the claim status on your account, you may get awarded the TP/Avios but keep said documents if you then need proof down the line.
