Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Tier point run – details of agent that can book

  • 29 posts

Put together imho a nice TP run for 720 points at just a smidge over £2 per TP ex Dub👍 can someone plse remind me who the agent is to send the ItaMatrix schedule to.

Also I can get below £2 if I kill 7 hours in Lax. Can I go landside and grab some sleep at a hotel or is it too much hassle?

    TIA

You could definitely go land side with that amount of time. We had slightly longer transiting before Hawaii – LA – London. I think it was 10 hours. We hired a car, went to the beach for a while then went to an outlet mall and did a load of shopping as our final flight had more luggage allowance.

ex-DUB is this a return to BCN? some great prices on those. Why not just call BA and book direct?

@nate1309 baggage checked all the way through or did you collect and recheck?

Phone agents handle this type of itinerary all the time. Just phone.

If you’re happy to book with AA if can load the ITA Matrix add-on and then send the whole thing directly to AA and book with them. For bookings with more flights I find the German site works the best, but then it’s priced in Euro which may not suit you.

Assuming it’s a fair way off, 60/90 day advance purchase, AA will make timetable changes and you’ll need to call to adjust to what you need anyway.

Collected and rechecked. Stored it in the car we hired all day.

BA gold line have put together some complicated itineraries for me with no problem. I’ve discovered a route that works really well for me. Going from BHD-LHR-DUB-LHR-EDI-LHR-BHD with a car hire in Dublin, which I can drive home to Belfast is costing around £660 with the sale on. This is getting me 480 points per time and should have GUF2 and GUF1 before my end of year. Plus I actually enjoy flying these short business trip.

    @angelamc11 That’s a great TP price 🙂

It is. Though I can do BHD-LHR-SOF-LHR-BHD for £480 for the same 480 points, which while a better price, requires a stay away from home plus hotel costs. The UK itinerary is perfect and fits with my work schedule.

Managed to get EDI-LHR-SOF-LHR-EDI with 6 days car hire for £406

Positioning flight to and from EDI for £126 in Club

Then a nested SOF-LHR-SOF in between for £210 in Club

I’ll pick up the car in Sofia and stay one night then fly back to Sofia and stay for 1 night and then drop the car off.

All in £742 for 720 tier points. (Plus £68 x2 at Hilton Sofia)

Are you all using Google flights as the initial filter, and fine tuning on BA site? Wondering where to start, geographically, but more specifically scoping the low TP to cash ratios.

Do you also have to stay in EDI overnight at either end? I struggled to find a LHR-MAN-LHR-SOF (or the reverse) that worked in one day

100% this: now done to 1.68 per TP 👍👍

I only use the ITA matrix. It’s important to give the booking class when on the phone to BA. I have found it also seems to price up around £100 less on the phone with BA than what ITA quotes.

Isn’t booking nested flights with the same airline a little bit risky?

I can’t see why this is a problem – can you explain why it would be? (never done it, just don’t understand why it would be an issue).

I’m not sure that BA currently has a particular issue with it, but US/Canadian airlines do and it’s in some of their terms/conditions along the lines of prohibiting the use of coupons from two or more tickets to circumvent tariff rules, e.g. minimum stay requirements or they directly reference ‘back to back’ tickets not being allowed. They are also generally stricter about missing sectors etc.

Yeah that’s my concern. I’ve seen people over at FT advising against it but can’t find a post from someone who’s actually been caught by BA.

You may be confusing skiplagging and nested tickets.

They are totally different kettles of fish.

BA don’t seem too concerned about it as it would stop many a ex-EU positioning flight!

Nested flights is AFAIK 100% OK with BA.

US airlines are not and will cancel your tickets and mess up your bookings if you have multiple itineraries with them “in flight” at once.
