Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Tier point run – details of agent that can book

    I used to work a flight away from home, and would nest:

    LHR -> work

    work -> LHR -> work (return over a weekend, cheaper) (repeat repeat repeat)

    work -> LHR

    BA never complained. It was significantly cheaper than the exact same flights not nested but as straightforward returns.

    Im I guessing correctly that those that do these TP runs, travel regularly for work outside of these runs? As someone like me who travels maybe 4 times a year and sometimes doesn’t even fly OW, there seems no reason to chase Gold?!

    I’m a leisure traveller but have done a TP run to renew silver before. The majority of my flying is short haul in Europe in economy, often Avios redemptions. I value the extra luggage allowance (particularly good for skiing + cycling trips), lounge access, fast track, seat selection and often empty seat next to me.

    If I was close to gold, I’d probably consider a TP run for it, mainly because it would extend my status for a further year due to the soft landing to silver.

    Unless you expect to suddenly be travelling very frequently in economy (eg new job), almost certainly no.

    Paying for needless upgrades or indirect routing to maintain status if it’s marginal can make a lot of sense. I’m well short of what i need to retain even silver this year, but I have a couple of work trips coming up, and I’ll do what I can to squeeze every TP possible out of them. Might make the difference.
