Chaos with connections up North tonight, will BA usually consider Club
Europe equivalent to a first class rail ticket when we claim reimbursement of had we better travel Standard class?
You don’t say exactly what’s happened here, but if a domestic connection has been cancelled by BA (especially if it’s at short notice and you have luggage), I would be pushing for a taxi, which they will pay for if nudged.
We arrived 4 hours late due to atc issues, BA put us in the HIX T4, we’re continuing by train this morning rather than an afternoon flight.
We be claiming our train fare back of course.
BA is able to rebook you in LNER 1st class, but I don’t know about claiming back. Sounds reasonable to me though
That’s encouraging, thank you John, I’ve booked off peak to save BA a few bob, I’ll report back through the usual channels as to how long it takes for my reimbursement.
BA have a deal with LNER so unless you asked them about going via LNER they may well put up a fight to reimburse you.
You’re supposed to at least try and deal with the airline ragther than just go off your own bat.

No LNER service to Manchester and the very kind lady at customer services guided towards making our own arrangements and claiming recompense.
The issue I had was whether to book First Class on Avanti and I concluded that was comparable to Club Europe
As long as a BA staffer told you it was ok to make your own arrangements and reclaim then it will be OK. Hope you got her name.
John also assumed you were going LNER!

In this scenario, could you also claim Original Routing Credit for the cancelled flight?
I got stuck with a broken down truck near Grantham the other week. It was a fiver cheaper to get a last minute train ticket to Scotland in First Class compared to Standard. And I got a snack and drinks!
Was the same four days later going back down to collect the truck.
I took screen shots of the prices to show the van hire company.
