I have a load of amex points and would like to transfer some to BA. The problem is I can’t link the account on the amex website because my BA account and amex account have a slightly different surname. When I signed up to BA years ago, they could not accept an apostrophe in the surname field. When I signed up for amex years ago they did.
Amex support have said there is no way to solve this issue apart from changing my name on either BA or Amex.
I am wary about changing my name on BA as I have four flights currently booked and don’t know what a change of name would do to them. I don’t want to change my name on amex as it is my correct name.
Is there anything I can do? Anyone know a way I could transfer the points to another account that I can create that matches my amex name, and then change my name in that account and then transfer them into BA?
Thanks…
Speak to BA.
Trying to do it via multi account transfers is not the way to do it.
@boomahtrix – have you also checked that all the other details on your BA/Amex accounts match very precisely as these can easily be changed and can cause a problem. My name is different by quite a few characters on Amex vs BAC and the surname on my BAC account, bookings, boarding cards etc is very different to that in my passport but BA copes without any issues.
