I currently have a MR balance ending in 826 and want to transfer this to Avios yet I can only do this in increments of 500. What do they have this policy? I wish to cancel this card by the end of the month, yet if I do this today i’ll lose out on a few Avios.
Is there any other alternative?
Buy an amazon gift card, it lasts for 10 years
Get 1000 points (i.e. hit the leftover target)
Transfer to avios and close
Transfer to Nectar (which you can eventually transfer to Avios if you want to). Very small point increments there.
If all options to transfer out have been exhausted, you can also offset them against a statement balance at 0.5p per MR. Not the best value, but better than losing them.
You didnt specify which card, if you dont mind keeping it open, you will get alot more value than £1.63
Thanks all – My MR balance shows 0 now, should I wait for confirmation from Avios/Nectar of successful completion before closing with AMEX?
In similar scenario I have done a supermarket spend and then put petrol, playing very careful with the gun so to make up exactly the amount needed. Between the two, easily rounded up, by Amazon vouchers it is also a great idea
