Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Transit time from T3 to T5

  • 163 posts

I just received a notification that flights to Madrid now departs from T5. I have a booking where I only have 1h 15min connecting time. I assume it isn’t enough (never done it before). What is an ideal time, taking into account that I am going with a 1.5 years old toddler? Is it free to travel between terminals, what is the fastest way to do it? Thanks!

I believe the minimum connection time is 90 minutes for T3 to T5 so you probably need to be rebooked. However 75 minutes can be enough time. Even in summer 2022 it has been doable in 40 minutes on certain days.

I guess 3 hours might be best with a toddler depending on your carry on luggage and whether they need extra time to relax/eat/sleep, also if you have lounge access you could have an even longer transit depending on what it does to your arrival time.

On arrival at T3 you would follow the purple Flight Connections signs and take the airside bus to T5 (free), you then need to pass through security again.

Great, I’ll give them a call, since I don’t want to run through the airport with my son. As there are many flights to/from Madrid I’d try to have 2.5-3 hours layover. Thanks!

MCT between terminals at LHR is 90 mins so you have a right to a flight change now.

OP all of the advice above, and this page on BA might help you – there they provide downloadable pdf directions/instructions under the header “How to connect within Heathrow”
