Hi all,
Are you able to help.
I got a trip coming up which I paid for the flights with points and paid the remaining cash fee on my Amex platinum. The hotels have been booked on a Visa and will use the visa for spending out there. Am I still covered for my trip?
Also are gadgets covered in the policy too?
@Crey, May I suggest that rather than rely on folk here, you should read the blurb about what is/isn’t covered. It’s like all insurance policies, to be read with a fine tooth comb!
You could ask the bot. ChatGPT says:
Flights paid with points + taxes/fees on Amex Platinum:
Yes, you’re likely covered for trip cancellation, delay, and missed departure as long as some part of the fare (typically taxes or fees) was paid using your Amex Platinum.
This aligns with Amex UK/US policies, which state coverage applies if the trip was “paid for in part or in full using the card.”
Hotels booked on Visa:
These won’t be covered by Amex’s hotel cancellation/interruption protection. Coverage applies only if paid with the Platinum card.
Of course looking at the Ts and Cs yourself is very sound advice.
