Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Travel Insurance and forced isolation

  • 2 posts

    Hi
Does anyone know of an insurance company that will cover us for any extra costs incurred by delaying our return if we are forced into isolation by Canadian Government when we go to the USA and Canada at the end of May
( ie extra hotel costs and extra flight costs.)

How long are you due in Canada relative to the length of the entire trip? For 2022, I feel I’d sit out Canada and wait for sanity to take hold there again. Justin has been taken hold of by the same holy spirit that inspired St Jacinda, Our Lady of Lockdown Sorrows, at her zenith.

Barclays Travel Pack says: Hospital or accommodation confinement is £1,000 per person (we’ll pay £50 for every 24 hours they’re confined) and We’ll provide the cover shown below if an insured person is suddenly and unexpectedly ill, are injured, quarantined or dies during a trip.

Staysure says: Cover for additional accommodation and transport, if deemed necessary by our medical officer; Additional daily benefit if you are ordered to self-isolate in your holiday accommodation if you have COVID-19.

If you had to isolate on arrival in Canada for the full duration, would that be longer than your planned time in Canada? If so, you probably need to speak to the insurer to double check you are covered as it’s a bit woolly even on the best policies.
