UK Credit Card Free Night for me, points room for friend – ok?

Need to use up a IHG UK credit card free night by June. I need to get two rooms in the same hotel on the same night. Can I do this: UK credit card free night for me and use my points to book a second room that I will not be staying in. They will be on separate bookings as the IHG website does not allow me to do this on the same booking.

Yes totally possible, just say you have 2 rooms booked at check in, we do this all the time now our son wants his own room with combinations of cash and points bookings. If you want the rooms to be close to one another just contact the hotel beforehand with the two booking references and ask.
