I previously held a plat Barclaycard which I cancelled in October
I wish to get the new paid avios card with the enhanced bonus however I don’t want to apply to early as so understand you have to wait 6 months to re apply
I have called Barclaycard 3 times , each time I get a different date for the account closure (3rd 15th 27th Oct ), I never got an actual letter to say the account was closed , how do I actually find out ?
I am a Barclays Bank customer went into branch they couldn’t tell me either , same with the online chat on the app
Seems strange why I can’t actually find out
Seems a pointless concern, when the last date they gave, 27th October, is more than 6 months ago.
You can always do a formal Subject Access Request.
My understanding is that while you can reapply after six months the bonus is only payable after a two year break.
27th October is more than six months ago and re the bonus eligibility, the OP reported the account closed in October was a Barclaycard Plat so he is eligible both to reapply and get the Barclaycard Avios SUB after six months. It’s only if you close an Avios Barclaycard that you can’t get a new SUB for two years, although you can theoretically reapply after six months and accept no SUB.
