Does anyone know whether I need to spend once instore using chip & pin before able to use it online? Thanks.

I vaguely recall I also had this problem when I first got the BC Avios Plus card. I think the issue is something to do with 2FA; you need to contact customer services. I think they were able to sort it on chat for me.

Thanks aq, just called Barclaycard they said they are aware of this issue and told me to wait until Friday when it may be resolved.

Had the same issue – online payments would not work until a manual chip and pin transaction was made.

But even after making legitimate chip and pin (and contactless transactions thereafter), their “fraud detection” blocked my card and I had to get it unblocked by verifying the recent transactions were genuine – meaning my online purchases were blocked again!!

    Thankfully all sorted now.

Unfortunately, I did a few chip & pin transactions and my online tractions still are going through even though they checked all my 2FA (Mobile number) is correct and nothing was blocked :/

I checked the thread I created when I had the issue a few months back, turns out it was being flagged as fraud, so it was saying ‘3D authentication failed’, and I was not receiving any texts to verify the transactions.

After I spoke to Barclaycard, they said they raised it with IT and it should work within 2 days, but it worked immediately. There was another person that posted on the thread, and they were told 6 days, but it only took 2. So now that you have told them, hopefully it should get sorted soon.

I didn’t realise Avios Plus has a dedicated line – and they immediately found the issue. Found that there was a transaction flagged as fraud as well. After unblocking it, it worked immediately. Thanks AQ, looks like we had a similar situation.
