I see the excellent £350 off £700 spend offer with United is back – remind me this is spend by the end date, but you can fly anytime? I don’t see any flight dates restrictions in the rules.
I have used this before, and a word of caution, stuff like seat selection etc does not count towards the spend.
TIA
Pleased to see this offer appear again on my Platinum and on my wife’s gold. Especially as I was able to take advantage of it previously in June when this was last offered.
Effectively the statement credit works out to giving you the benefit of travelling Premium Economy to the USA for the price of Economy. Our United flights last time were a mixed bag, with great service heading out to the US and mediocre on the way back and pretty dire food choices.
If you book a flight and cancel it after 24 hours do you get the full amount as a credit voucher? 😁

WHat you wouldn’t get is the £350 credit from Amex.
Here are a few questions for those who have used this offer before:
1. Is it possible to start the journey in the UK and finish somewhere in the EU?
2. Does the entire trip need to be on United Airlines (UA) metal?
3. Can I depart from Manchester (MAN) on Swiss (LX) or Lufthansa (LH), and then connect to a UA flight in Europe?
I have just been on the Amex live chat and asked about the eligibility of codeshare flights (eg. MAN-MUC-CLT & BHX-FRA-AUS) under this offer.
The agent just said that so long as you book via the united site – https://www.united.com/en-gb/flights – it will trigger the offer.
I gave a specific example involving only Lufthansa flights and they said:
“As soon as charge is made using this link and flight is departing from UK Airport, it will be eligible. There is no such terms about codeshare flight, so it is fine”
I think to play it safe, make sure the flights are on the United codeshare?
Just in case it’s useful to others, I booked 4 days ago for a flight from Edinburgh to Panama (with flights on Air Canada metal on the way), and then back from Costa Rica to London. 3 days ago I got the email confirming I’d used my United Airlines offer, and the statement credit is showing on my account.
Yes, I’m flying in Economy, but checked luggage is included, and for £500 during the school holidays I’ll make do.
Can I use this to book flights for a friend?
Anyone waiting a long time for acknowledgement of the offer being redeemed? I see may have to wait 30 days after offer ends (and hence pay off the Amex in full), but usually we get the message within 24 hours or so.
I see someone waiting for the offer to credit.
My gripe is it takes days for the spend to hit your account. Booked 4 trips on Sunday night via 4 amex cards all for over £700. 2 are still not showing and 2 are on cards as pending.
The offer finishes tomorrow.
I left it right to the wire last year as I wanted to get the very cheap PE seats for circa £790. I did indeed manage this on the last day of the offer – the credit applied as normal backdated, but of course there are no guarantees to this.
This year however, it seems UA has cottoned on. I can’t find any PE seat for less than £1200 for the route I want.
There are some other PE routes that are going for much more than business even.
Oh well.
C’est la vie 🙂
Date of transaction counts. Regarding other posts, I added cost of seats to my flight on previous offer and it counted and I got cashback. But, if you cancel your flight for future travel credit, seat will get refunded to the card and cashback might be removed. If you want future flight credit, make sure to book economy, not basic economy. I learned it all hard way in past, when I had to cancel some flights.
Codeshares are fine, as long as you can buy your ticket on United website. Previously, I had ticket on Swiss with last flight on United and it all worked ok for cashback.
I booked flights using two cards for current offer. Had a bit of trouble finding economy for £700 to my destination, so added extra segment SFO-HNL, instead of flying on miles. Also, no Star Alliance airline is flying to Fairbanks, so had to buy cash tickets on Alaska.
In general, I think, it’s great offer. Even if you won’t be able to fly, you can change your tickets to future flight credit and use it for any flight. I totally gave up on British Airways and moved all my westward flights to UA. Tickets are much more flexible, planes are not full and their app is pretty good. Also dealing with delays. And their call centre responds almost immediately.

Still not showing as redeemed or credited
