Upgrade Voucher on Barclays Avios – What happens if I cancel the Barclays card

Hi!

I am due to get the Barclays BA upgrade voucher very soon, and would like to cancel my card thereafter. Would the voucher still be valid. Does it have any T&C to use a Barclays card for boking or same card (for taxes etc).

Don’t want to pay the 20£ fee, and instead get my wife to sign up for teh new bonus and hopefully re-apply in a year with new bonus

No requirement to hold the card to keep the voucher, but you can’t get a new SUB for two years after closing your account as you suggest.

“3.2 We’ll only apply one Avios Welcome Bonus in relation to your card to your BAEC account during the lifetime of your card account. If you close your card account after you receive your Avios Welcome Bonus and then open another Barclaycard Avios card account within 2 years after you closed the original account, you will not be eligible for another Avios Welcome Bonus.”
