Upgrade voucher – trigger with minimum spend or wait for anniversary

I have a Barclaycard Avios Plus card, and am 6 months away from the 1 year anniversary, and £5k away from triggering the voucher.

Am I correct in thinking if I trigger the 10k spend to get the voucher, I will not receive an additional voucher on the 1 year anniversary, and vice versa?

I’m just trying to figure out if there is any benefit on my triggering the 10k spend, or just waiting for the anniversary year to come along..

The reward for card spending triggers when you pass 10k in your card year- the voucher expiry clock starts when you trigger it so you may want to delay (if you have another place to direct cc spend)… but don’t forget to hit the 10k before your card year is up!
The Barclays anniversary voucher comes with their bank account not the Barclaycard, and is triggered on the anniversary of you choosing to enrol in the “avios rewards” scheme as opposed to “blue rewards”.

Ok, so the anniversary of enrolling in avios rewards is the same for me as the 10k spending trigger. Does that mean I can get 2 upgrade vouchers, provided I trigger the 10k within the first year of the card? And then also getting the upgrade voucher for avios rewards? Thanks for clarifying – I only took these out for the 100,000 Barclays offer last year, and am figuring out how to maximise the value of having the accounts.

some confusion here, sounds like you have the premium bank account AND the premium credit card.

The premium bank account will give you one upgrade voucher after you have reached your 1 year anniversary.

The credit card, will give you an upgrade voucher shortly after you have spent £10k but before your 1 year anniversary. The spend counter will reset at the start of year 2.

So yes you can get 2 vouchers, one before you reach one year (you have some control when that happens as it depends on your spending pattern) and another shortly after.

The two anniversary dates would be closed together if you opened the two products within days of each other like many who wanted to benefit from the 100k offer did.

Ok thanks for clarifying – that’s great to hear I can get the 2 vouchers. I plan to trigger the 10k spend a few weeks before the anniversary date of the Credit Card. And then an additional upgrade voucher should land once the premium bank account has its 1 year anniversary. Perfect!
