Hoping someone can advise…
We are a party of 3 wishing to fly business. I have two upgrade vouchers which I wish to use to upgrade two of our party, and will pay full Avios for the 3rd person.
Online I cannot do this in one booking. Its important to me we are one booking as one of the party is a disabled minor. We’ve had horror shows due to split bookings in the past (odd person being moved, check-in refuse to deal with second booking at special assistance etc.)
Will BA let me do it over the phone without charges, or is there a better way?
Apologies for anyone who has already seen this on FT.
If you call BA, they will sometimes let you use 2 vouchers on one booking, though it does depend on how knowledgeable the agent it. There haven’t been any reports of being able to add more people to these bookings AFAIK.
What also might work is this:
Use 1 voucher to upgrade 1 adult plus the minor outbound, then either book the inbound separately or call BA and ask them to book the whole thing. This will mean that at least 2 of you are on one booking. Then make a separate booking for the 3rd person with the 2nd voucher.
We’ve travelled as a family of 3 several times on separate bookings and never had any major issues.

This cannot be done on one booking using this mix of voucher and avios.
Everyone on the same booking must have the same flight and payment details. Adding a voucher would then preclude having a 3rd non voucher person on that booking.
If this was an only avios booking then no problem.
Thanks both.
Is there anyway to link bookings so that if they move 1 or 2 of us, they move all of us – this is where we came unstuck last time. My daughter really does require both of us to assist on the plane. It causes problems when they try to upgrade my wife who has BA Silver out of the cabin that the rest of us are in!
You can ask them to put a note in the booking but there’s no way to merge them into a single booking.
@Flyer/Stayer, you can have more than 2 people on a 241 booking, so in theory it should also be possible with the upgrade voucher but as we know the IT for these is completely dysfunctional!
@Moley, have you actually tried booking the outbound leg with 1 of the vouchers and seeing if it will let you select 3 pax? You can do this with a BAPP companion voucher, but I’ve never tried with the Barclays.
One thing to be aware of – BA have a special assistance function who you can email (as far out as you like, must be 48 hours before the flight – but that’s chancing it). If you explain in the email the need of the passenger (two of my kids are autistic, so I ask for priority boarding and seat selection before the 7 day bronze status kicks in). BA have always been really helpful in accommodating requests, and we nearly always do split bookings due to similar reasons to yours.

To add to my response – the email address is ba.assistance@email.ba.com and here is a copy of my email:
Hi, this is a request for disability assistance for my family of 5, travelling on the following bookings (three references added). Your team (Laura) was extremely helpful last October in arranging priority boarding for us on our flights to Canada, and we would like to avail ourselves of this service again. The reasons are that (child1) and (child2) both suffer from autism, while (adult2) is afraid of flying and has previously been on your “flying with confidence” course. It would be most helpful if we were able to board the plane in the first group with seats already allocated to the family. This is because it is then possible to explain to the children where they are sitting, and ensuring they can board, place their luggage in the lockers and find their seats, without a large number of passengers doing this at the same time, which (child1) and (child2) find stressful. Many thanks in advance for your help and please do not hesitate to contact me if you need any more information, by phone or e-mail. Best regards, Nigel
@northernlass Thanks – have tried to book. Its limited to 2 people, as only 2 vouchers can be used.
@nigelhamilton Useful info. Again, much appreciated.
