Upgrading at airport: Tier points awarded?

If I upgrade a paid short haul ticket at the airport from Y -> club europe, do I get the Y tier points, or the J tier points?

In my experience J tier points are awarded.

But you don’t get anything if you upgrade an avios booking with money at the airport. At least that’s my experience.
