Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Upgrading cabins when booked through corporate travel agent

Is this possible? My company policy is to only book premium economy – I want to upgrade with my personal Avios but have been told on the phone to BA that it is not possible to upgrade as my flights were booked through a corporate travel agent. Thank you.

Sometimes possible. But it could either be that your corp/TA has a private fare deal that the BA agents can’t see, this means they can’t do it as they can’t calculate the tax difference. or I think if your corp TA is in a different country to your exec club then it isn’t possible, though that might not be a thing anymore.

But it’s not a hard no, I’ve done it myself a few weeks ago on an Amex corp travel booking

It very much depends on the agreements the agent has with BA and your employer which may even include anyone but the agent making changes to the ticket.

    You could ask your agent

This was the problem I used to have. BA couldn’t touch the ticket and the agent couldn’t touch the Avios

If your TA won’t process an Avios upgrade, there are at least two more opportunities to try…

At 24 hours before flight (or perhaps just day before, not sure which), BA get control of the booking and are able to make changes.

At that point, call BAEC and they may be able to do the upgrade.

Of course you can also try online at T-24, but the last few times I’ve tried it always failed at the very last point, with BA’s website throwing an error after the CC payment was approved (the pending payments then get cancelled automatically), but I then call BAEC and they manage to upgrade me, though I think they still have a battle with BA’s clunky IT to do it.

Otherwise, last chance is try at the airport ticket desk.
