Need to do a trip to NYC in early June and looking at flight options. Can see return Upper for around £2186. It’s giving me the option to add “Upper Class Flex” to it for £200 – refundable with free changes (well, fare difference applies). Any thoughts on whether it’s worth it? I usually just try for the cheapest, reckoning I will stick with it, but missed my Christmas Ryanair flight because of Covid so maybe seeing it through a different lens today. Seems like fare class would still be Z.
Adding Flex to the fare for £200 essentially makes a Z fare act like a J one, from a rebooking perspective. It becomes refundable and with free changes. Before purchasing it, weigh up what your travel insurance has in terms of missed flights etc.

Thanks! In the end I just went with the cheaper fare, hoping I don’t regret it. If I wanted to change slightly it would probably be after price has changed, and a cancellation would maybe be through something travel insurance worthy. Hoping to get away with it! Was tempted by the “small” surcharge, but it’s still £200 I suppose
