probably a basic question for some of the experts on here 🙂
looking to book a domestic flight in the US next month. Skyscanner is showing American Airlines, along with many others.
I’ve been looking on the BA website – Avios bookings offerings poor times, cash bookings not available.
On the AA website direct there is more flexibility. If I book on here, will I be able to credit any tier points to my BAEC ?
If you add your BAEC number then yes.
For general info it’s not possible to buy a stand alone cash ticket for AA via BA website which is why yiu don’t see any.
Also BA can only offer avios fares when AA is selling them at sAAver level.
Thanks.
Shame the times are poor for Avios with BA, as 30,000 + £4.60 for a business flight seems great. But I don’t really want to get a 5.46am flight when I need to drive 2 hours to get to the airport and also drop off a car.
the cash flight with AA is £312 but flight times are much better.
Just be aware that domestic US business class flights aren’t like European ones. On the positive side, you will have a much better seat than in Club Europe. On the negative side ,you may be offered no more than a bag of nuts or a chocolate bar as ‘food’. And if you are allowed access to the lounge (not a given – you should check), you will have to pay for food or for any drinks beyond house wine or nasty mass-produced beer.
We got a full breakfast service when travelling in AA domestic business (or First as they call it), plus free checked bags. No lounge access though, unless you have BA Silver status or equivalent.
@NorthernLass, food service is normally dependent on trip duration. Shorter internal flight (LA to Boise was my most recent) usually just have a snack basket.

AA domestic F cabins vary quite a bit and, as has been noted, catering is route/distance dependent so I’d advise checking those factors on the flight you are considering before forking out that fare.
Was surprised by how good AA lounges are. Haven’t travelled with them for 20yrs (DL being my go to) and the Flagship lounges at ORD and DFW are worthy contenders to the DL Sky Clubs, if not better. You can buy Admiral access or get Flagship if you’re OW Sapphire (BA Silver) or above.
Admirals Clubs are not in the same league as the five Flagship lounges (two of which are at DFW and ORD) as can be demonstrated that you can pay $150 for a day pass to Flagship but a mere $59 for an Admirals Club.
This AA flyer talk thread on AA domestic catering should damoen expectations on what food service will be offered.
