Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Use companion vouchers on BA and Aer Lingus mixed flights

Can anyone confirm whether the voucher is still valid while the outbound is operated by Aer Lingus and the inbound is operated by BA?

I keep getting this error when mixing these two airlines: ‘Sorry, there’s a problem with booking this journey online. You can try selecting other flights or contact us so an agent can help you book the flights you have selected’.

I did some tests, there is no problem with BA only or Aer Lingus only redemption.

    Thanks.

Or maybe I can book them separately and contact BA to use the voucher and combine the two bookings? As long as they allow two airlines while using the voucher.

You can mix and match – so you should be able to call and ask BA to book the full itinerary (make it clear that you can’t do this online or you will be charged extra), or book the outbound with your voucher and ask them to add the inbound. Don’t book the whole route without the voucher as they’ll have to cancel and rebook you and you risk your seats not reappearing.

You will have to call and book this over the phone as BA IT cannot handle mixed bookings with the voucher.

To get an idea as to what the Avios and taxes should be I would do a dummy booking for each trip and add the totals together. This should give a ballpark figure as to what to exppect to get charged on the phone as sometines adding a BA reward to another airline reward results in HUGE discrepancies and over payments of Avios and fees!
