Hi, bit of complex one but hoping someone can help!
My husband has 2 companion vouchers in his name
1x premium Amex (issued 3rd sep 2024)
1x normal blue Amex (issued 15th Aug 2025)
We want to book 4x return to Heraklion from Gatwick for next August for 2 adults and 2 children. All of us are in the BA family:household system and we have booked using avios and companion vouchers for all of us before.
However, I have just realised you can only use 2 vouchers if they are both from the same card!!! Ours are not.
Initially, I thought we would get 50% off the total avios price for the round trip, taking it from 122000 down to 61000. However, I can’t now do this as I can’t use 2 different vouchers at the same time.
When I go to look at one way for all 4 of us using one voucher, the avios is 47000. I could use the other voucher to then make a separate booking for the return for 4 of us for another 47000. This would total 94000 avios, 32000 more than if I was able to use 2 vouchers in one go and book the outbound and Inbound at the same time.
Am I missing something?? Am I doing something wrong? How can I not get 4 tickets, in 2 separate bookings for inbound and outbound, using 1 companion voucher per booking for 62000. Why is it 94000?
I’ve even tried doing 1 ad and 1 ch return using 1 voucher (totalling 30500 avios) but I can’t then do this for me and the other child as the companion vouchers are not in my name.
Please can someone help?!?! This is testing my brain power!!!
The pricing you’re seeing for 4 people one-way using a single voucher reflects the fact that you would effectively be ‘wasting’ half the voucher, i.e. it’s calculating for 3 people at full price plus 1 goes free, for only a single leg of the journey.
You can’t use a voucher for 4 people to go for the price of 2 on a single leg which is what you’re effectively asking it to do.
I don’t know the rules on using multiple vouchers on a single booking, but if it can’t be done online, I think you’d be best to phone up to see if an agent can apply both vouchers.
