IHG in its wisdom decided to pay the top up points on the IHG card ie “2X/4X” when it exited its contract with Creation.
These were always there but lost in the larger 10X. A small gesture that helps. Rob seems that this was a poor deal. IHG could have ignored the gesture.
I have on 2 later visits in IHG hotels paid via AMEX but the IHG “extra points” were still credited. A small contribution to the IHG points kitty and a few more to my BA account via the BA/AMEX card.
Any gossip/news on a replacement to the IHG credit cards.
The offer is only poor if you assumed, somewhat fantastically, that “4X” meant they intended to give you 40 points per $, rather than just a poorly worded 4 points per £** that you would have got by paying with the IHG card if it still lived.
** when the exchange rate was 1.2-ish it was equivalent to $ plus typical taxes
