Using Avios from Asia to Philippines

Hi. Thinking about using avios on Cathay or JAL to fly from Hong Kong or Japan to Cebu and back. Doesn’t seem to be any availability at all but not sure if it’s a Avios issue, a covid issue (with either airline or HK, Japan or Cebu) or just something else! Has anyone got any ideas?!

Even pre-COVID there were issues with Cathay on flights ex-HKG, they seemed to only open them up for transit flights (married segments) . Now I expect they just aren’t opening up availability or flying at all + partner awards are a headache when the flight gets cancelled! It’s also likely that Cebu will be HK Express rather than Cathay Pacific as it’s a low yield route usually

Probably the same/similar for JAL

Pre-covid, Cathay and JAL used to release regional flights 60 days out. Don’t think much has changed. Also bear in mind that even regional routes in Asia have been cut.
