I wish to use my BA avios to travel on CX in either premium or business to HKG . I can’t find an easy way of finding out availability however from checking on the BA website there never seems to be any availability
Does anyone know how many avios points you need for a return trip on CX to HKG in business / premium ? Do redemption seats ever turn up ? Could I call BA and see if they can waitlist the seats on my required dates on CX or is that a big no no ..: I’m a gold guest list member
You can’t waitlist and in my experience (pre COVID) seats that start/end at HKG were rarely to never released. Asia Miles also gets seats at T-360 I believe so they’ve got an advantage over Avios customers.
AA website is quite good for searching oneworld availabilty, do not need a login and you can filter to non-stop and see a calendar
Yes, they do turn up. Just search for different dates where demand is lower or go all the way to T-355 (or thereabouts) to get an indication
CX reward availability between the UK and HKG are hard to find even for those using Asia Miles, since HK removed covid-related travel restrictions.
So it’s even harder to find availability in premium cabins when using Avios.
What I normally do is to book a BA CW ticket for the day I want to travel (as it is easier to find availability), and then check for CX availability every single day to see if anything comes up, and then cancel the BA ticket if so.
Basically it’s difficult, but not impossible
Thanks all , what’s the redemption amount in premium and business for CX return to HKG is it the same as BA ?
Good morning. Planning to use Avios on Ba.com for intra Asia cathay pacific flight for next year but can’t work out when reward flights are released?
it seems as though once the current booking date ( T-355 on Ba.com ) is open, only then do the CX flights open for 4 days before that date! For example, today Thursday 29/8/24 Ba Avios flights opened up for bookings and also for CX flights Sunday 25/8/24. 🧐 however, by then there’s not much left! I’m guessing the inventory I am seeing is coming from Asia, Miles reward flights…
I believe CX reward flights open at T -360 for Asia, Miles redemptions on their website. So is the best bet to convert reward points to asia miles and book like that but risking getting ‘stuck’ with asia miles if not successful? Thanks for advice.
