I will be visiting Vietnam at Easter and am unsure of the best way to access cash (VND currency) from the local ATMS
Any advice?
Should I look at Wise etc?

The free app is amazing, shows ATM fees and limits for all machines in the area you want by GPS.
Thanks for the info
Was tempted by a CHASE card with its no fee ATM withdrawals. Does anyone have any experience or recommendation?
Lots to choose from these days. Virgin Current Account, First Direct Current both have higher daily withdrawl limits with no fees globally. Wise and Revolut are ok but lower limits. Chase, not sure what their limits are.
For free forex I carry Barclays Visa, (cashback not the avios one), Halifax Clarity as the old standby, FD, and Wise.
Chase works absolutely fine, as an added bonus it’s one of the few ways to draw cash in the USA with no fees (Chase ATMs). Withdrawl limit is £500pd
Chase might be the answer as I am off to the USA in September for a couple of weeks. Would be good to find a solution for everywhere!!

I just gave you four debit and two credit cards that are forex free everywhere, what more do you want 🙂
ATM charges are levied by the local banks, Chase aren’t the solution to everything in the USA, I’ve been to quite literally dozens of towns in the US where there’s no Chase branch for 100 miles or more. That’s where the app comes in useful as you can find fee free ATMS such as the ones at credit unions.

Thanks I appreciated all your ideas – really useful. The comment on Chase banks also being fee free in the states was my comment as I regularly go there
Chase, Starling no hard credit check and free card for ATM withdrawals
Wise no hard credit check but a fee for the physical card.
Chase cards work so far in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica, Abu Dhabi and the UK and US – you get the gist.
Local ATM fees are often unavoidable but can be reduced by shopping around // similar to max withdrawals – Indonesia I’m looking at you ! Thanks @davefl for the hat-tip to the app.
It gets on my proverbial that HSBC have the stupid separate product and card (Global Money Account) in this day and age.
