I closed my VA Rewards + card last month but last week had a refund to the closed account, I spoke to customer services and they reopened the account so I could withdraw the money from the account. I since had FOMO and asked them to reopened the account and keep it open. They’ve said they’ve done this and sent me a new card in the post. Just checking if anyone has been through this and is it true that they can just reopen the account like this and I don’t need to reapply?
Not quite the same, but some years ago Barclaycard would reopen accounts at the drop of a hat. For me it was because the AA, who despite my cancelling my membership, tried to take payment from a closed Barclaycard account. Barclaycard immediately reinstated the account and made the payment. Was a real pain to resolve.
So, I don’t see why Clydesdale couldn’t now, if they wanted to. Would depend on dates, payment history and their internal rules.
