afternoon all,
I been trying to persuade Virgin to extended the validity of my credit voucher from a flight cancelled during Covid, which runs out at the end of the year – with no luck! – but I recently found out that I was entitled to a refund, not just a voucher which they never explained or offered to me!
I have logged a complaint through Resolver asking for a refund – no response yet but I wonder if anyone has any experience of thins kind of complaint, my chances of success and next steps if they wont offer a cash refund?
Thanks in advance!
Hi. Entitled to a refund? Did you get a refund on your original flight? As in cash & airmile part.
Who told you, you are entitled to a refund for the voucher? From what I know, there is no money value. Its simply a voucher you have earned.
I be shocked if you get anything, not even an extension.
@mrcrsearle I think the OP is talking about a voucher for not flying, rather than a credit card voucher. If it was a credit card voucher, then – yes – it would have no monetary value.
@tjob81 Were you ever offered a refund as alternative to a voucher? Put another way, did you ask for the voucher and have now changed your mind, or was it just the only option presented to you? I seem to remember airlines were giving out vouchers in favour of refunds to stop themselves tanking during the pandemic. I find VS usually flexible, but this is going to be a sit and wait scenario – let us know what they say!
What have VS actually said to you?
When did you put in the complaint via resolver? It won’t as far as I’m aware put you in the front of the queue or speed VA up as it’s just a way of submitting and managing complaints.
And was the flight actually cancelled or did you cancel it yourself. I’ve seen articles etc saying – incorrectly – people should have got refunds when they don’t qualify,
Morning, I used resolver as I find the structured approach helpful in managing the complaint.
I was never offered a refund, I would have taken it if I was, I think BA were doing a similar thing, I remember reading an article on HfP about it. I guess I never pursued it originally as I always believed I’d use the voucher so wasn’t bothered but for a number of reasons I’ve not been able to and I cannot accept just losing the money.
Virgin said they would respond within 3 days, it’s been 6 🙁
