Virgin Atlantic status match from BA Gold?

Hi all, I have a Virgin flight in Upper class upgraded from a paid for premium economy flight using an upgrade voucher. Could i get a status match from my BA Gold to Virgin Gold?

If it is a cash ticket, yes. I did this a couple of weeks ago. Your match will be acknowledged very quickly but the status upgrade only happens 1-2 days before travel.

The only catch is that my outbound didn’t get the Gold status bonus, probably because it was upgraded so close to departure. Return was fine.
