I am 15 hours into my Virgin Voyage and loving every second of it. I would never have considered a cruise, nor would I have accrued any Virgin points, were it not for my now assiduous, daily scrutiny of the HfP website.
Thank you SO much for the invaluable insights and additional thanks to Roberto whose advice before I left the UK was absolutely spot on.
Booked one last night with a friend who works for Virgin. It seems they’re giving them out to staff free, so it hasn’t even cost me any points. It does make me wonder how many they are selling for cash.
Yes we fully enjoyed ours ,hoping for more points opportunities next year
Looking forward to our French Daze in September.
Do Virgin charge in USD for onboard purchases? And what about the pre purchased bar tab?
Just thinking what credit card to use as we also have the virgin credit card with the 10% cash back. The only money I have spent so far is in the casino; the table games are in $$ and the exchange rate is dire. If you want to buy chips with a credit card they will charge you 7.5% for the pleasure so cash is king.
I am 24 hours in now and absolutely delighted I paid £885 to upgrade to a suite and qualify as a “rockstar.” The upgrade benefits are evident from the second you check in including access to Richard’s Rooftop which is a quiet, secluded area with excellent sushi (this started today apparently) and free Moët from 4.30pm to 6.30pm each day.

@Lula does your friend have any intel as to whether this offer might appear again? I would certainly hold back 95,000 points if it did.@pbcold I will ask, but I doubt she will know. She works for a different Virgin business, so is not close to the cruise operations. But I do know that there have been several offers to staff over this year, with the flexibility on terms of use being relaxed each time (first time one date offered – second time, a choice between two dates, this time, any dates they want up to the end of the year). Hence my question about how many they’re selling for cash!
But I do love a freebie, and I’m encouraged by all the positive reports.
Thank you. You will love it! I honestly do not know how anyone could fail to. I am having a very sober, quiet, relaxing time (post surgery) whilst others are hard-core drinking and partying in the pool and night clubs. It really has something for everyone.

The offer is back, albeit at 115k however that still offers great value (see the HFP article)
On the off chance you opt for The Irresistible Med sailing on the 2nd Oct, you (as will I) will receive $50 onboard credit if you book via the link below once you’ve received your access code / key.

Is all food completely free, throughout the ship? Or is it only free at certain restaurants or from certain menus?

All food is free in all restaurants.
There are limited exceptions, e.g. adding truffles to your meal or getting some ultra expensive seafood platter. These are few and far between and only if you really want to splurge!

There are perhaps ~12 options that have a supplement out of the 250+ dishes available on the ship so technically not all food is included but they are extremely optional luxury choices, keep in mind filet mignon etc are free, so I think it’s fair to summarise it as all food being free.

As others have said, if you’re booking this cruise feel free to use my referral link below to earn both of us $50 in onboard spending 🙂
Thanks in advance!

Following on from @Lula`s point, my niece has a friend who works at a Virgin gym and has been given a cruise voucher for 2 people. They are doing their best to fill up these enormous ships it seems.

No caveats or strings attached? Just a voucher in a similar sense to the access code we receive if purchasing one via Virgin Red?
Does anyone know if the Virgin Voyages Cashback offers available on the Virgin Credit Card(s), Virgin money account etc pay out on bartab (drinks credit) purchases? It’s in USD although there is nothing that seems to suggest the purchase must be in GBP. Of course, there will be a loss of about 3% in FX when purchasing with one of these cards so want to make sure.
I am not sure about this, I did see it mentioned somewhere but paid for my upgrade with my Virgin card and did not receive anything.
I have just enjoyed a tour of the bridge during which I learned that the cost of the ship was €786,000,000.

I have done the 12.5% Virgin Voyages on two bar taps a few weeks ago and the £61.25 cashback is pending. The price you pay is set in £.
pbcold,
How soon after the upgrade bid, were you notified you were successful ( assuming you gained your upgrade via the bidding)?THnaks
I wasn`t told until 2 days before the cruise – I think you can be supremely confident though. There are very few “Rockstars” on my ship.

What was your upgrade (cost) out of interest and any tips on when to get the best deal, if’s a moving price?

Good to know, I should have jumped at 12.5%, it’s only 10% now. Assumed it would bill in USD

Where do you see it set in GBP? When trying to checkout online I only see $300, or no reference to GBP.
