@Mayfield. I’ll try and enjoy it . It’ll be interesting to see how passengers cope with temperatures that aren’t particularly warm :).
VV has some good points – for me these are no children and reasonable cabins (even when you don’t have Rockstar status) and having DBExtras means free laundry, coffees and extra bar tab credit which is a bonus. The food is OK (nothing more IMHO ) despite some passengers raving about it, and I find it repetitive as the menus change very little from year to year. Personally I find the ‘entertainment‘ totally banal and on my last two trips didn’t bother at all with any of the shows. I’ve travelled on other cruise lines previously and will again in the future if the price and itinerary are good ( most of the MSC ships are HUGE in terms of passenger numbers so not my cup of tea ).
Long term I think VV will struggle (and I’ve noticed a change in overall quality in the past year) but for the time being when bargains appear I’m happy to book them !
Thanks for the feedback, I do recognise some of your comments but I guess I have nothing to compare it to. Can I ask if you have any tips for places to look for bargain cruises, I’m quite new to this form of travel!
I guess bargain is a relative term . Personally I think some of the VV sailings are horribly overpriced and targeted to appeal to the US / insta crowd (usually with destinations that include Santorini Mykonos etc). Some of the ‘bargains’ that some of the various cruise lines offer don’t include things like tips or sometimes even soft drinks so worth checking the on line agent ads carefully.
A few of us here picked up a real bargain last year booking with VV directly which then oversold the sailing and offered to move us on to a longer ( and for me better ) itinerary. We’d also got a decent bar tab free (these incentives are now long gone) so it was almost as if we were being paid to sail.
Facebook has lots of groups dedicated to VV and their preferred ‘ First Mates ‘ which can be useful joining (and who can sometimes offer additional incentives).
