Hello fellow HFPers! Booked Domes, of Corfu later next year based on recommendations here which were looking forward to. Wanted to chd K any family recommendations (kids under 5) for warm weather European destinations in February / March?
Thanks!
Stephan
Good morning Stephan
I’m somewhat hesitant to recommend somewhere I’ve not been but good friends of ours raved about Hotel Suite Villa María in Tenerife so much that family Froggee are booked up to go there in February.
It looks less luxurious than Domes of Corfu but our friends say young kids love it (ours at 6 & 9 are at the upper end of the best age group) and they have two and three bedroom villas which gives a family the space it needs.
Other than that, Martinhal in Sagres (fly to Faro, Portugal and then 80 minute drive) has been our happy place for several years but it might be a bit chilly still in Feb/Mar.
Thanks Froggee! Tenerife does seem like more of guarantee for good weather and that hotel suggestion looks great. Hadn’t thought of Faro but may be worth further investigation, even if not during February /March.
I’m right now in Senegal, amazing weather (25-30 degrees max everyday and sunny). We flew through Madrid (4.5h flight, no time difference nor jetlag), being a really good avios redemption (cash fares in economy were about £1k and we got the flights for something like 5k avios and £215, Madrid-Dakar, booked the flights from UK in a separate booking). We are staying at a Riu Hotel in Point Sarene, not the most luxurious but the food is good and it has lots of activities for the children, my kid is loving it. We paid €1550 for 7 nights all inclusive. It is full of French families and it is really similar to any big hotel in Mexico or Punta Cana.
There’s nowhere in continental Europe reliably warm in Feb/ March. Depends what you mean by warm, of course. For a warmish break from UK chilly weather, you could go to Andalusia, Sicily, Greece. Places you would no doubt like and are warmish might include Malta, Cyprus, Turkey (if you call that half European). common theme being you go south. So for real warmth, not too far away, how about Morocco or Tunisia or Egypt?
We were near Marbella last February half term and it was 24 C.

And you can ski in Madrid mountains in February.
Key word being ‘reliably’ warm.
We drove down to Spain one year mid Feb and it went from 10C up to 25C in a few days, which was great. It could equally well have stayed 10C for another 2 weeks.
South south being the best bet, naturally. Cadiz?
Nowhere is completely reliable – we’re in the Florida keys and just had 5 days of freezing cold and rain!

I hadn’t considered the option of flying south into Africa but had a look at the suggestion and it seems lovely and at that redemption level that’s pretty impressive. What plane were you on?

True in terms of places to go to. I think anything above 15 degrees but even in most southern places that may not be guaranteed. I was also curious about suggestions on family-friendly places/good childcare, which is the priority

A321 with intra-EU business class, so not worth it for us to pay the difference for business. Luckily the flight wasn’t full and got two empty middle seats. Business is quite cheap with avios anyways. You could use a 241 now (probably I would have gone for business if 241 were ok to be used in Iberia back when I bought the flights few months ago). The worst is the inbound flight time, at 22.45!
