Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

@Jamie1975 – as I see it there are three separate issues:-

    1. What was the correct price for your trip? If it was 240k but you are saying BA incorrectly told you the price was 170k in Jan but correctly charged 240k while at the airport, you are going to struggle. The facts shouldn’t be difficult to ascertain.

    2. If BA incorrectly charged you 240k Avios (bearing in mind also any mix of cash/Avios) vs the correct price of 170k Avios, you have a good claim.

    3. I don’t think you are eligible to claim for denied boarding compensation owing to insufficiently late ultimate arrival time.

Taking what the OP says at face value and BA have admitted the error then there is a clear case for EU261 as he was denied boarding on the outbound flight having turned up in good time.

There is no need for a SAR you simply need to complain and when the do not respond take to CEDR who will then get all the information. If you are not satisfied with that your can take to MCOL, even if you lose at CEDR. This will be a long a frustrating process which I’d start today.

AS I say this assumes everything is correct about being delayed and bA admitting the error.

The burden of proof re the pricing issue (if there is one) is on the passenger, not BA so I wouldn’t be counting on CEDR pressing BA for anything.

The delay reported wouldn’t appear to engage EC261 involuntary denied boarding compensation.
